Why become a GGS Certified Pre- and Postnatal Coach?
67–75% of people who hire a coach or trainer are women, and 85% of women will have a baby in their life.

However, there aren’t currently enough health and fitness professionals who understand how to help pre- and postnatal women have a safe, strong, and healthy pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

The stats are clear:
  • 48–67% of women leak urine by week 30 of pregnancy
  • 30% of women still have painful sex at 12 months postpartum
  • Up to 19% of women will have surgery for pelvic organ prolapse or incontinence at some point in their life, and:
  • 30% of those women will have multiple surgeries
This means that women you work with are at risk of experiencing these conditions.

Chances are a woman you know is struggling with issues related to pregnancy or postpartum at this very moment...and you might not even know it.

What’s more — many of these conditions could be prevented, or at least mitigated, with proper coaching, training, and pelvic health physiotherapy.

Here’s the good news…

There are so many things health, fitness, and nutrition professionals can do within their scope of practice to help women struggling with pelvic health issues.

And that’s precisely why we created our Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification.

Because we believe we can change pre- and postnatal women’s experiences. And we know there’s not another group of professionals who have a bigger opportunity to do exactly that.

More women than ever want to stay fit, healthy, and strong during and after pregnancy. And they need someone they can count on and trust to keep them safe. Someone to help support and empower them through this special time in their life.

As health, fitness, nutrition, and rehab professionals, we’re on the front lines of critical conversations with women about exercise, nutrition, rehab, self-care, and body image.

Your journey starts here.

"I was a brand-new trainer when I enrolled in the Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Cert, but it gave me exactly what I need to confidently work with women during and after pregnancy.

In fact, it's the reason I was hired at my first job, and my first two clients had postpartum issues that I was able to help them with because of what I learned in the certification.

Now I'm doing what I love and fulfilling my dream of empowering women for a living, and I have Girls Gone Strong to thank for that!"
Ellysia Noble, 35

"I've been coaching women in fitness for over a decade, and this certification helped me with my own postpartum recovery, and my confidence in coaching pre- and postnatal women has skyrocketed since finishing the Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification.

The info I've learnt has been a GAME CHANGER. If you're looking to learn how to safely coach a pregnant or postpartum person, then without a doubt you'll LOVE this certification."
What does the GGS Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification cover?
Our Certification covers all the crucial information you need to safely and effectively support pre- and postnatal women with exercise, nutrition, and behavior-change psychology.

The curriculum is broken into six units, with each unit covering a different topic related to working with pre- and postnatal women. This includes pre- and postnatal-specific coaching and psychology, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, assessments, exercise programming, and postpartum recovery.

You’ll get step-by-step instructions on things like assessing diastasis recti, designing exercise programs for each trimester, when to make crucial safety adjustments, and so much more!

Once you're a GGS Certified Pre- & Postnatal Coach, you’ll feel confident and prepared for any situation and you’ll have everything you need to safely and effectively coach pregnant and postpartum women.
Will I learn how to help my clients with diastasis recti?
Given that almost 100% of women have diastasis recti by week 35 of pregnancy and nearly one-third of women still have it at 12 months postpartum, we know how important it is to feel confident helping your clients who ask you questions about this common condition.

That’s why we’ve included extensive, evidence-based information throughout this Certification on diastasis recti including:
  • What diastasis recti is and how it can affect your client’s programming during pregnancy
  • How to assess diastasis recti and when to refer your client to a pelvic health physiotherapist
  • What the assessment means and how it impacts your postpartum programming
  • How to help your client regain core strength and function
  • How to support your client with aesthetic concerns related to diastasis recti
  • What the best available evidence says about diastasis recti and what it means for you as you support your clients during and after pregnancy
  • The connection (or not) between diastasis recti and other common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, like leaking urine, low back pain, and pelvic pain
By the time you become a GGS Certified Pre- & Postnatal Coach, you’ll know exactly how to:
  • Have conversations with and answer your clients questions about diastasis recti
  • Assess your client for diastasis recti and modify her exercise programming accordingly
  • Confidently work with her pelvic health physiotherapist to help your client regain strength and function
  • Navigate sensitive conversations around body image and diastasis recti
  • And much more!

What makes your Certification different from other Certification options?

Our Experts:

The Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification was developed by 21 world-leading women’s health experts for anyone who wants to help women have safer, healthier, stronger pregnancies and postpartum recoveries.

These 21 experts span 12 fields of study, and include:
  • Physiotherapists who specialize in pelvic health
  • PhDs in exercise science, psychology, molecular biology, rehabilitation science, and gender studies
  • Pre- and postnatal fitness experts
  • OB-GYNs
  • Doulas
  • Midwives
  • Registered Dietitians
  • Exercise Physiologists
These women come from five different countries including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, and the UK, and currently work (or have worked) at Johns Hopkins, Baylor Medical, University of Florida, Georgetown University, and Precision Nutrition.

(In fact, the three female co-authors of the PN Certification helped develop this Cert, making it the perfect complement to PN-1).

And what's even more special is our *process* for creating the curriculum.

Every single chapter was written, reviewed, and edited by as many as 6–10 of the experts listed above.

We asked each expert to challenge one another's ideas and methods and help integrate the best available evidence and research with their professional experience so we could create the world’s-first and only truly interdisciplinary, evidence-based, practical coaching Certification.

In other words, the women behind this certification weren’t just “kind of involved” — they dedicated hundreds of hours of wisdom and passion to this project…

...and the result is a one-of-a-kind Certification that stands alone at the top of the industry.

Not only that, but in creating this Certification, we’ve helped revolutionize communication between industry professionals, resulting in a truly holistic approach to pre- and postnatal care.

Rather than working independently of each other (as is generally the case), our experts worked together, learning how each of their specialties overlaps with one another's to create a new standard of support for pre- and postnatal care.

Our Curriculum:

Bringing these experts together allowed us to create the most comprehensive, trusted, and globally-relevant Certification in the industry.

Most Certifications related to pregnancy or postpartum cover one, maybe two topics.

No other Certification dives deep into coaching and psychology, nutrition, female anatomy and physiology and how it changes during and after pregnancy, the birth process, rest, recovery, and exercise programming with 21 experts spanning 12 fields of study.

We package all this information in a beautifully-designed, one-of-a-kind 518-page textbook you can keep and reference for years to come.

You’ll also get our revamped 100+ page workbook with questions designed to highlight key takeaways and practice the application of what you’re learning in each chapter.

Plus, you’ll have lifetime access to our brand-new online learning platform complete with dozens of coaching and demonstration videos, movement screens, time-saving forms, workout templates, questionnaires, and assessment tools you can use with your clients immediately.

You’ll learn every aspect of successfully coaching pre- and postnatal women step-by-step, from start to finish — and you’ll develop the confidence and skills to troubleshoot any coaching or training problem your clients may have.

Our Evidence-Based Approach:

Our Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification has just been updated to include all of the latest research, and currently contains more relevant references than any other Certification of its kind. (There are over 600 references throughout our 518-page textbook!)

But when we say our Certification is "evidence-based" it doesn't mean it's simply based on the research. It means that our experts review all the best available evidence and integrate it with their 10–20+ years (each) of practical and clinical experience, while also considering client and patient values.

All references are listed at the end of each chapter so they’re super easy to find if you want to do further research, and even more references are included in our online portal materials.

Our Reputation:

All of these factors — our experts, our curriculum, our evidence-based approach — come together to make this Certification the most reputable and trusted of its kind.

The experts at Girls Gone Strong have consulted with, collaborated with, and been featured by organizations like Johns Hopkins, Baylor Medical, Precision Nutrition, and Yale University.

That’s why it’s recommended by industry legends like Dr. John Berardi, Dr. Krista Scott-Dixon, renowned Olympic Sprint Coach Stu McMillan, and many others.

And why organizations like NSCA, Perform Better, and IDEA Fit trust our experts to educate their coaches and trainers on working with pre- and postnatal women.

Our Focus On Psychology:

Giving birth is a life-changing moment in a woman’s life. As wonderful as the highlights can be, we can’t ignore the struggles that many women face throughout their pregnancy and postpartum experience.

Our Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification dives deep into the often-overlooked psychological aspects that affect a woman’s mental health, wellbeing, and mindset such as:
  • Feelings of shame, guilt, and self-judgment
  • Body image struggles around weight gain
  • A loss of identity around motherhood
  • Pregnancy and birth complications
  • The pressures of wanting their “pre-baby body back”
  • Postpartum depression and mood disorders
  • Miscarriage and loss
As a coach, you'll want to be prepared to have conversations around these challenging topics to help your clients feel seen, heard, and supported — and our Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification will show you how.

Molly Galbraith, CSCS
GGS Woman-in-Charge
"When I first started in the fitness industry 18 years ago, I was often the only woman in the weight room. All my teachers and mentors were men, and there was almost zero women-specific coaching and training education available — let alone coaching specific to pre- and postnatal women.

Given 85% of women in the U.S. will have children at some point in their lives — that’s not OK.

Women deserve better.

So GGS pulled together 21 trailblazing women from 12 fields of study to create this industry-changing Certification that teaches health, fitness, and nutrition professionals (like you) how to safely and effectively coach pre- & postnatal women in the 21st century."
Dr. Krista Scott-Dixon, PhD
HEAD OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AT PRECISION NUTRITION
TORONTO, CANADA
"As a developer of this Certification, I’m excited to be part of helping health and fitness professionals bring women’s coaching into the 21st century with this truly timely, progressive, and empowering approach.

The majority of people who hire a coach, trainer, or nutrition professional are women. Yet to date, few coaching organizations have truly met women’s diverse needs — until now."
Dr. Mac Nwosu, 31
dpt, cscs, cppc
sport and pelvic health physical therapist, houston, texas, usa
"I'm a sport and women's health physical therapist, as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist.

I recommend this certification without hesitation; it has given me all the tools required to coach, train, and keep my pre- and postnatal clients and patients healthy and strong.

I will never lose another client because she became pregnant and I didn't have the knowledge to treat her."
How long does it take to complete the Certification?
We know life is busy. And that’s exactly why we’ve designed our Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification to be entirely self-paced.

If you’ve got kids, a training job, another job, or other responsibilities to attend to, then you can customize your time and approach to suit your life and make sure you are getting the most out of the materials.

While there is no deadline to start or finish, many of our students (and now grads!) set a goal to complete one chapter of Cert materials per week. That’s about 3–5 hours per week to get through:
  • Reading the chapter in your textbook
  • Viewing the accompanying videos and resources in the online portal
  • Answering the workbook questions and case studies
  • Taking the chapter exam, if applicable
There are 20 chapters in the textbook, so including all the exams, you’ll become a Certified Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Specialist in about 4–5 months.

The best part? Every chapter of our textbook gives you tools you can use right away. So if you can’t get through a whole chapter in one week, don’t sweat it. You’ll already be reaping the benefits of your investment.
Do I need to be a personal trainer or fitness pro to be able to get certified?
No prerequisites needed here! Our Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification is for any current or aspiring forward-thinking professional who wants to have a bigger and deeper impact on women's lives.

In fact, our students and graduates include personal trainers, strength or nutrition coaches, group fitness instructors, physios and rehab professionals, Pilates and yoga instructors, mental health professionals, medical doctors, sport coaches, registered dietitians, nurses, midwives, doulas, massage therapists…

...as well as fitness enthusiasts, new parents, and people looking to change careers or build a business.

So what brings together this diverse group of people from different backgrounds?

A deep desire to create a better world for women by giving them the compassion, care, and coaching they deserve.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been coaching for years, this Certification will help you keep women (or yourself) safe, healthy, and strong during and after pregnancy — so you can do rewarding work that positively impacts women’s lives.

Sarah Jamieson, 40
cpt, nlp, cpps, cppc
personal trainer and movement coach, british columbia
"Since graduating from their Pre- & Postnatal Coaching Certification and increasing my knowledge in this area, my business and opportunities have grown significantly.

I've created my own products and courses, traveled and taught workshops, and even collaborated with other industry leaders like Dr. John Rusin as a teacher for his Pain Free Performance Specialist Certification.

I'm very grateful to Girls Gone Strong for providing such comprehensive, evidence-based information about working with pre- and postnatal clients that I can pass on to the health and fitness professionals I teach."
How will becoming a GGS Certified Pre- & Postnatal Coach grow my business?
There’s a massive gap in comprehensive pre- and postnatal education resources available for health and fitness professionals — which is surprising, considering that more than 85% of women will have children at some point in their lives.

That means almost 9 out of 10 women will either become pregnant, are pregnant, or are postpartum. Most female clients will go through these life stages looking for support, yet very few professionals know how to coach them well.

This is where you come in. Becoming GGS Certified is your big opportunity to help women in need while setting yourself apart from other professionals in the industry.

When you become a GGS Certified Pre- & Postnatal Coach, you’ll become the go-to expert for working with women — and you’ll have the skills and knowledge you need to safely and effectively coach women at every stage of pregnancy and postpartum.

This means:
  • Attracting new clients with your expanded knowledge, skills, and services.
  • Becoming the obvious choice in your gym or your community for women who are pregnant or postpartum.
  • Getting recommendations and referrals from other industry professionals because they don’t know how to help prenatal & postnatal women like you do.
GGS Certified Coaches also report using their newfound knowledge and skills to:
  • Get better results for their clients, which means developing longer lasting relationships that make more money over time.
  • Create and sell their own pregnancy and postpartum products and courses.
  • Teach workshops and present at events with other industry leaders.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and create meaningful partnerships that allow their businesses to thrive.
As your reputation for being the go-to pre- and postnatal professional grows, you’ll continue to build a rewarding business, career, and life you love through helping women.

In other words, you’ll have everything you need to make the difference you want to make.

And along the way, you’ll find that you have a thriving business that provides...

... more money to support your family…

... more time to spend with your friends and loved ones…

... and more flexibility in your schedule for the things you enjoy, so you can get the most out of life every single day.
