Hi, I'm Molly, and 14 years ago, I stumbled into the world of fitness as a woman who simply wanted to change her body.
What I didn’t realize is that decision would change the course of my life and the fitness industry forever.
Shortly after I began working out, people started asking if I could help them, too. Before I knew it, I was an online and in-person trainer, which snowballed into co-opening a gym, co-hosting seminars, and starting my own blog.
In 2011, I co-founded Girls Gone Strong because I had a growing desire to empower other women the way discovering my own strength empowered me.
I wasn’t sure exactly what GGS would be, but I knew in my bones it was going to change the world
(and I’ve since realized that so many of you are also dissatisfied with the landscape of women’s health and you want to change the world, too!)
For years I was juggling Girls Gone Strong while trying to run a gym, a personal blog, and wait tables on the side to make ends meet.
I was struggling hard and knew something had to give, so I decided to quit my side job, sell my gym, and put it all on the line, with no money and no idea how I was going to make it work.
I took the leap because I knew women desperately needed my help, and I know that women need your help, too.
Since then, Girls Gone Strong has become the largest community (600,000+ women from 70 countries around the world) supporting evidence-based, body-positive, health, fitness, and self-care information, tackling critical topics like pre- and postnatal health, and sexual harassment and assault, and helping women overcome things like body shame and fear of vulnerability.
Over the years I've had the chance to meet thousands of community members who share their stories with me about how Girls Gone Strong changed their lives.
While their stories are different, the questions at the end of our conversation remain the same:
- How can I pass this feeling on?
- How can I help educate other women?
- How can I be someone who empowers women?
- How can I do what you do?
And I finally have the answer.
Last year we opened the doors to The Coaching & Training Women Academy, the world’s FIRST online Academy housing multiple evidence-based, interdisciplinary, women-specific certifications for current and aspiring health and fitness professionals, and I couldn't be more proud.
